Gorefield Scarecrow Competition 2012

Gorefield held its 5th Annual Scarecrow Competition this August when our village came to life with a vast and varied selection of Scarecrows. The theme this year was Olympic Sports and Games, a choice which provided plenty of scope for your imagination to get to work with. 25 exhibits were displayed from 18th August until 9th September 2012. Judging took place on Wednesday 22nd August 2012.

In 2011 we introduced a
Children's Section in the competition which is for children under 12 years of age. Entry was free, just return a completed entry form. There was also a Table Top or Garage Sale held over the weekend of Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th August to coincide with the Scarecrow Route Public Voting and Treasure Hunt.

Again this year the Festival featured
public voting and this was held over the weekend Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th August. It involved collecting a voting form from the village playing field, following a marked route and then scoring the exhibits as you went round. Your scores were then be added to the judges scores in order to find the overall winners.

Prizes were awarded as follows:
1st: Unsynchronised Swimmer by Julie and Eddie Watts
2nd: The Openning Ceremony by Malcolm Spriggs
3rd: The Irish Fencing Team by Krystal and Kate on High Road
Runner Up: Pole Vaulting at Little Acre, Goredyke Bank

Children's section
